Screen Recorder 2.0 — preview, backgrounds, share in one click
A full redesign of the browser screen recorder: preview before you hit record, macOS-style framed backgrounds, full camera customization, MP4 downloads, and shareable links — no editor trip needed.
Preview before you record
No more committing to a recording blind. Click "Grant access" to pick your screen and camera, see the live preview with your current layout + background, then hit Start when you're ready. Your last settings are remembered next time you open the tool.
macOS-style backgrounds + framing
Pick a background and the recorder frames your screen with padding, rounded corners, and a drop shadow — the look you've seen in tools like Screen Studio. Seven presets out of the box:
- Sonoma — deep blue to lavender
- Monterey — pink to purple to blue
- Ventura — pink to orange to gold
- Sequoia — indigo to deep purple
- Black / White solids
- Off — raw capture, no frame
Tune every detail — live
Expand the Background card for sliders on padding, rounded corners, and an inset "rim" with its own color + opacity. Adjust while you preview — no re-granting permissions.
Full camera customization
When you pick Screen + Cam, a Camera card appears below the Start button. Set the camera shape (Square, Horizontal, Vertical, or Original aspect), snap it to any of 8 positions, resize it, and adjust how far from the edge it sits. Mirror horizontally is on by default.
Audio meter + mic test
A live bar-graph meter shows your mic and system audio levels. Before granting access, hit "Test" to quickly verify your mic is picking up sound. After you grant access, the meters run automatically.
MP4 downloads + one-click share
Downloads are now MP4 by default (the browser records natively on modern Chrome/Safari, otherwise we convert on the fly). And right below the Download button, hit "Generate share link" — we create a public URL on the spot. Copy it, send it, done. No need to open the editor.
