Build a comment-to-DM funnel with Claude Code
A "comment GUIDE" reel needs three things: a rule for new comments, a public reply so the comment section looks answered, and a sweep for the people who commented before the rule was live. Claude Code sets up all three through the CueEditio MCP in one conversation.

The CueEditio tools that run
list_postsFinds the reel that asks people to comment.create_autodm_ruleKeyword rule with require_follow (asks people to follow before the guide arrives) and comment_replies for the public "sent" reply.list_commentsFinds people who already commented the keyword, with dm_eligible for the 7-day window.send_dmSends the guide to those earlier commenters, one DM per comment.reply_to_commentLeaves the public reply under the earlier comments too.
How it works
1.Post the reel
Your caption says "comment GUIDE". The link can be a page, a PDF or a calendar.
2.Ask Claude Code to wire it
Keyword, guide link, whether to require a follow, and the public reply text.
3.Catch up
Claude Code DMs everyone who commented before the rule existed, if the comment is under 7 days old.
4.Check later
Ask "how many GUIDE comments are still unhandled?" any time to see what is left.
Claude Code asks for permission before each MCP write. For unattended runs, claude -p with --allowedTools limits it to the CueEditio tools you name, so a cron job can reply to comments without touching anything else.
Limits to know
- Instagram only lets a business DM someone who commented, as a private reply to that comment. The agent cannot cold-DM people who never commented.
- One DM per comment. A second send to the same comment returns already_dmed unless you tell the agent to force it.
- The comment must be 7 days old or newer. Older comments come back with dm_eligible false.
- At most 600 DMs and 600 public replies per hour per account, below Meta’s ceiling of 750.
- Reading posts, comments and rules works on the free plan. Sending replies, DMs and creating rules needs CueEditio Pro ($6 or ₹459 a month).
Questions
With require_follow on, the first DM asks the commenter to follow and tap a button. CueEditio checks the follow and then sends the guide. People who already follow get the guide straight away.
Rules only react to new comments. Claude Code handles the earlier ones by listing comments on the reel and DMing each match with send_dm, as long as the comment is 7 days old or newer.
Yes. Each rule can target specific posts by id. Ask Claude Code for a GUIDE rule on one reel and a PRICE rule on another.
Yes. The DM is plain text up to 1,000 characters, and links are allowed.
Yes. Use claude -p in a cron job or CI step with --allowedTools set to the CueEditio tools you want. Set it up once in an interactive session; later runs reuse the saved sign-in.
