Reply to Instagram comments with Codex

Auto-reply tools post the same line under every comment. Codex can read each comment and write a reply that answers it. CueEditio lists only the comments you have not replied to yet, so a second run never double-replies.

One-time setup in Codex

Paste this to Codex
Read https://www.cueedit.io/agent.md and set up CueEditio for me. Use my email: you@example.com
Or add it yourself

  1. 1.Paste the line above into Codex. It signs up with an email code and gives you one link.
  2. 2.Open the link, check the email shown, and approve Instagram.
  3. 3.Ask Codex to list your Instagram accounts.

Ask Codex

You

codex exec "Reply to unanswered comments on my last reel. One line each, no emojis. Print a tally."

Codex

Replied: 14. Skipped (spam or emoji-only): 5. Errors: 0.

Example conversation. Post names and counts will be your own.

The CueEditio tools that run

  • list_postsLists recent posts and reels with comment counts so Codex can pick the ones with the most waiting.
  • list_commentsPulls comments with unhandled_only, so only comments you have not replied to come back.
  • reply_to_commentPosts each public reply under its comment.

How it works

  1. 1.Connect once

Add the CueEditio MCP to Codex and connect Instagram.

  2. 2.Say which posts and what tone

"My last 3 reels, short and friendly, answer questions properly."

  3. 3.Review the drafts

Codex shows the replies before posting. Edit any, or say go.

  4. 4.Re-run any time

Already-answered comments are skipped, so a daily run only touches new ones.

Codex works well for repeatable jobs: keep the instructions in a file, run them with codex exec, and read the tally it prints at the end.

Limits to know

  • Public replies are capped at 600 per hour per account.
  • Replying needs CueEditio Pro ($6 or ₹459 a month). Listing comments is free.
  • CueEditio replies to top-level comments on your own posts. It cannot comment on other people’s posts.

Questions

No. list_comments marks comments you already replied to (replied_by_me), and Codex asks for unhandled comments only.

Yes. Public replies have no age limit, so you can clear a backlog on reels from months ago. Only DMs are limited to comments from the last 7 days.

Give Codex two or three of your real replies as examples, or keep a short style note in its instructions. It drafts every reply and shows them to you before posting.

No. The CueEditio MCP can read and reply. It has no tool to hide or delete comments.

codex mcp add writes the server to ~/.codex/config.toml under [mcp_servers.cueedit]. Codex stores the sign-in itself.

Connect CueEditio to Codex

Create an account, connect your Instagram professional account, then add the MCP server above. Reading comments is free; sending replies and DMs needs Pro.
